Earl Hadley, 64, died suddenly of a heart attack at his farm northwest of Newton Wednesday noon, Feb. 10. He went out that morning to help his tenant care for a sick horse. After they ate dinner he went to the barn to see the animal, and fell over as he came out of the barn on the ground.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church at Newton Friday afternoon and burial was at Newton. The Granges attended in a body.
Mr. Hadley, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hadley, was born and lived on the farm near Oak Grove school in Sherman Township where he died, until 1916, when they moved to Newton and rented the farm. He was married to Miss Etta Brown (state lecturer for the Iowa grange) in 1900. She survives, and also some cousins. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown and Henry Brown of Afton, her sisters, Mrs. Etta Crawford of Winterset, and Mrs. Mary Day of Newton were all with her for the funeral. The family lived here on the E. H. Keyes farm and are well known.
