Clear Creek - Walter Bates was killed in an accident at Collins Wednesday. His team became frightened while he was loading lumber and he was thrown off the wagon under the wheels. He sustained internal injury and lived only a few hours, suffering terribly, but conscious to the last. A wife and eight children survive. The only son, Floyd, who is in the U.S. Aviation service at San Antonio, Texas, arrived home Saturday. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Priest at the Christian church, Sunday at 2 p.m.
