Death of Little Mary Bobo
The hearts of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Bobo are grief stricken over the death of their young daughter Mary. Her death occurred Friday, March 16th, funeral services Sunday afternoon from the M.E. church of Colfax conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. F. Cannom. Interment in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mary Alice Bobo was born in Colfax, Iowa, January 15, 1912 and departed this life March 16, 1917, age 5 years, 2 months and 1 day. She attended the Methodist Sunday school and Junior League. She would often repeat the verse “I will both lay me down in peace and sleep for Thou Lord only maketh me to swell in safety” also the words found in John 3:16.
Her friends have often heard her sing, “I’ve two little hands to work for Jesus, One little tongue his praise to tell, Two little ears to hear His counsel, one little voice a song to swell, Lord we come, in our childhood’s early morning, Lord we come, Lord we come, Come to learn of Thee.”
To her many friends she was a little ray of sunshine. She is survived by her father, mother, one sister and brother, also one half-sister and two half-brothers. She will be greatly missed by her family and her grandmother, also her host of friends.
She was a member of the King’s Heralds, a missionary society and for one so young, she took much interest in missionary work, and paid her own dues out of her savings bank.
