Howard Guthrie of Reasnor Dies
Eight Year Old Son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Guthrie Dies of Burns
Reasnor, June 11 – Special – Howard Guthrie, eight year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Guthrie of this city, died at the Skiff Memorial hospital at Newton at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon as the result of burns received earlier in the day when he dropped a lighted match into an empty barrel in which gasoline had previously been stored. He was taken immediately to the Newton hospital for treatment.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church here, with Rev. J. B. Pritchard in charge. Burial will be in Monroe.
He is survived by his parents, two brothers and one sister, besides a group of other relatives.

Reasnor, June 16 – Special – Funeral services for Howard William Guthrie were held at the Methodist church Thursday, June 12 at 2 o’clock with the pastor, J. B. Pritchard, officiating. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery.
Music was furnished by Mrs. J. B. Pritchard, Mrs. Alva Graffis, John Van Wyngarden and Guy Efnor, accompanied by Mrs. Alta Zickle.
Pallbearers were W. A. Paulson, Jack Carden, Raymond Koder and Russell Jones.
Howard William Guthrie, small son of Earl and Lillie Guthrie was born in Reasnor, Ia. Nov. 19, 1921 and died at the Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton on June 10 at the age of eight years, from the results of serious burns received earlier in the day.
He was a member of the Primary department of the Methodist Sunday school in Reasnor. He is the youngest child in the home.
He is survived by his parents, one sister, Catherine, two brothers, Hubert and Kenneth and a host of relatives and friends.
