Mrs. Dickson Dies at Tarkio
Former Newton Resident Will Be Brought to Old Home For Burial
Friends in Newton received word today of the death of Mrs. Alex L Dickson at Tarkio, Mo., at midnight last night. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Nicholl.
The funeral party will arrive in Newton tomorrow morning where a brief service will be held in the cemetery chapel at 11 o’clock. Burial will be made in the Newton cemetery beside the husband whose demise occurred many years ago.
The Dickson family were among the pioneers of Newton and Jasper county. They were among the early members of the Newton United Presbyterian church. Mrs. Dickson was about 86 years of age. The immediate cause of her death was cancer of the liver. A son, John Dickson resides at Osceola, Ia.

Former Newton Woman Buried Here This Morning Was 86 Years Old
The burial services for the late Mrs. Alex R. Dickson whose death occurred at Tarkio, Mo., last Wednesday night at 11:45 o’clock was held at the Newton Union Cemetery this morning at 11 o’clock. The service was in charge of the Rev. Willard Wylie of the local United Presbyterian church, acting as pallbearers were: W. E. Denniston, Bud Herron, Dr. J. C. Hill, George E. Campbell, George H. Warner and F. E. Hill.
The funeral party drove by automobile from Tarkio, remaining last night in the John Dickson home at Osceola, Ia. In the party were: Mr. and Mrs. John Dickson, Mrs. Sadie I. Thompson of Minneapolis, Miss Laurella G. Dickson of India, Mrs. Blanche D. Nicholl of Tarkio, and Mrs.. Mary E. Bechtel of Garden City, Kans. The party left for home immediately after the graveside services.
Obituary
Alice Louisa Dickson was born in Washington county, Pa., Nov. 2, 1843. In early childhood she removed with her parents to Viola. Ill. On Dec. 30, 1863 she was united in marriage to Alexander Reid Dickson, who died Feb. 27, 1887. She is survived by her two sons and four daughters, George N. Dickson of Roosevelt, Okla.; John M. Dickson, Osceola, Ia., Sadie I. Thomson, Minneapolis, Laurella G. Dickson, Pathon__, India, Blanche D. Nicoll, Tarkio, Mo., and Mary E. Bechtel, Garden City, Kans. Also 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Early in life she united with the Associate Reformed church, now the United Presbyterian, and has lived a faithful consistent Christian life. In 1893 she removed to Tarkio, Mo., where the family home has been ever since. She was deeply interested in the educational and religious life of the community and in all reform work.
