Allen Eli Warrick Died March 24 at Des Moines
Allen Eli Warrick, 71, died Saturday, March 24th at 12:35 p.m. at the Elm Crest Nursing Home in Des Moines where he had resided the past 8 months. Mr. Warrick had been a resident of Colfax for many years, prior to moving to Des Moines in 1946.
The son of Laura Adams Warrick and James Warrick, he was born at Des Moines on March 14, 1891. He moved with his parents to the Oswalt Community as a small boy and attended the schools there.
On December 24, 1910, he was united in marriage to Inda McVey, at Des Moines. She preceded him in death in 1950.
Mr. Warrick was an engineer at Sunnybrook coal mine, near Colfax, for several years, where he was co-owner.
Surviving Mr. Warrick are a daughter, Mrs. T. A. (Margaret) Morris of Waterloo; five sons, Robert of Des Moines, James A. of Newton, Clyde H. of Valeria, Mary M. of Cedar Falls, Frank C. of Valeria; two brothers, James T. of Salem, Oregon and Marvin O. of Des Moines; three sisters, Mrs. Tom (Jennie) Wilson of Colfax, Mrs. W. J. (Nell) Garret of San Jose, California and Mrs. Tillie (Lauretta) Wilson of Melcher; also 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 26th at 2 p.m. at the Walters Funeral Home in Colfax. Rev. Neville G. Clayton, pastor of the Colfax Christian Church conducted the services.
Bearers were Mr. Warrick’s sons and son-in-law, Robert Warrick, T. A. Morris, James A. Warrick, Clyde H. Warrick, Cary M. Warrick and Frank C. Warrick.
Burial was in the McKeever Cemetery.
