Elmer Bell Services Set for Today

Funeral services for Joseph Elmer Bell, 70, who died Monday, March 19, will be held Thursday March 29, (today), at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Colfax.

Roosary was recited Wednesday, March 21, at 8 a.m. Organist is Eleanor Howell and Soloist is Edward J. Gannon.

Casket bears are Tony Hodgson, Lloyd Tharp, Keith Keipp, Fred Behrends, Bill Bell and Jim Davis. Buriel will be in the Colfax Cemetery. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home of Colfax handled the arrangements.

Surivors are his wife, Muriel; one daughter, Mrs. Eddie (JoAnn) Hodgson of Colfax, and one son, Jerry of Des Moines: seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Margaret Cox of Sibley. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.

Mr. Bell was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, a former volunteer fireman and a Redman.

He was a U.S. Post Office clerk for 32 years. He was assistant to the Post Master.

The son of Arthur and Bridgett Sharp Bell, he was born Jan 3, 1905 at Severs. He was Married to Muriel Bruce Sept. 1, 1934 at Newton. ~ Jasper County Newspaper, March 22, 1984
