Thomas Osborn dies on Sunday; rites Wednesday
Newton – Thomas Woodrow Osborn, 68, of 121 N. 6th Ave. W., a resident of Newton since 1951, died Sunday evening at the Embassy manor Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Harold A. Schlink, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Survivors are his wife, Neola; a son, Jimmie Osborn of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Melba) Burt of Newton; two step-sons, Raymond and Bob Mouchka, both of Newton; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Allen (Myrtle) Cupples and Mrs. Bruce (Lula) Robinson, both of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two infant children and a son, William “Bill” Aug. 21, 1981.
Mr. Osborn, a member of the First Baptist Church and a life member of the United Auto Workers, Local 997, was a retired employee of the Maytag Co., where he had worked for more than 20 years.
The son of William and Lula Johnson Osborn, he was born Aug. 29, 1913 in Tyler, Ark.
He was married to Neola Byers Mouchka Feb. 1, 1958 in Newton.

Services held for Maytag retiree Thomas Osborn
Thomas W. Osborn of Newton, a Maytag retiree, died Sunday at Embassy Manor. He was 68. Services were held yesterday in Newton and burial was in Memorial park cemetery.
Starting with the company in 1954, in sheet metal, Osborn’s continuous service began in June 1958 in sheet metal. He later worked in plating, wringer assembly and heat treat rubber before transferring to machining in October 1967. He remained there until retiring in August 1975.
In addition to his widow, Neola, survivors include a son, Jimmie; a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Melba) Burt; two stepsons: Raymond and Bob Mouchka, and two sisters: Mrs. Allen (Myrtle) Cupples and Mrs. Bruce (Lula) Robison, all of Newton.
