Edward L. Sutton dies on Saturday; rites Wednesday
Edward L. Sutton, 74, of 614 E. 4 ½ St. S., a resident of Newton since 1947, died Saturday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. A. B. Sudbrock, pastor of the Newton Baptist Temple, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Survivors are three sons, Raymond, Donald Keith and Kenneth, all of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Brinstead of Newton; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert of Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cleo, twin brother Fred, and a grandson, Junior.
Mr. Sutton was a member of the Baptist Church, Maytag Retirees and United Auto Workers, Local 997.
He was a retired employee of the Maytag Co.
The son of John and Myrtle Dotson Sutton, he was born July 14, 1907 in Houston, Mo. and attended Brownhill School in Texas County, Mo.
He was married to Cleo Logue Sept. 14, 1932 in Houston, Mo.

Edward L. Sutton of Newton, a Maytag retiree, died Saturday in Skiff hospital. He was 74. Services were held yesterday in Newton and burial was in the Union cemetery.
A son, Donald, works in wringer assembly.
Sutton began work for the company in March 1952 in receiving. He transferred to Plant 2 die cast in 1952 and to the same area at Plant 1 in April 1954. Sutton remained there until retiring in June 1972.
Survivors include his three sons: Donald, Kenneth, and Raymond, all of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Brinstead, Newton, and a brother, Robert, Knoxville.
