Howard B. Crist Dies Wednesday; Services Friday
Prairie City – Howard B. Crist, 82, a resident of Prairie City since 1963, died Wednesday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at the Christian Church at Prairie City.
The Rev. Alex Haines, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Louis G. (Ida Florence) Williams of West Des Moines and Mrs. John E. (Eleanor Elizabeth) Willson of New London; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, C. Francis Crist of Laguna Hills, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. F. M. (Florence) Keeney of Prairie City.
He was preceded in death by his wife Feb. 14, 1974.
Mr. Crist, a veteran of World War I, served in the Iowa State Guard during World War II.
He was a member of the Christian Church in Prairie City and the American Legion and was an honorary member of the 40 and 8.
The son of Charles F. and Mabel Newsome Crist, he was born July 6, 1894 at Woodburn, was graduated from Woodburn High School and attended Drake University in Des Moines.
He was married to Eva S. Savely July 12, 1919 at Woodburn.
