Mary E. McCuen Dies Tuesday; Services Friday
Mrs. Chester W. (Mary E.) McCuen, 83, of 443 59th St., Des Moines, a former Jasper County resident, died Tuesday afternoon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
Dr. L. H. Athey, pastor of the Center Friends Church, northeast of Newton, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Griffis Cemetery at Prairie City.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Thursday.
Survivors are three daughters, Miss Helen McCuen of Des Moines, Mrs. Leslie (Hazel) Doak of Newton and Miss Ruth McCuen of Des Moines; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Edith; and a son, Carroll, in infancy.
Mrs. McCuen was a former member of the Church of the Brethren south of Prairie City.
The daughter of Isaac and Mary E. Young Cadwallader, she was born Nov. 14, 1889 in Jasper County.
She was married Feb. 17, 1909 in Prairie City.
