Wayne G. Smith Services Are Set Thursday
Funeral services for Wayne Glen Smith, 40, of Mingo, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Saylorville Baptist Church at 6429 Northwest 6th St., Des Moines.
The Rev. Frank R. Chittock, pastor of the church, and the Rev. David A. Pacholke, pastor of the Mingo United Methodist church, will conduct the services.
Military services will be conducted by the Mingo American Legion Cyclops Post No. 534 at the Greencastle Cemetery, south of Mingo.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today through Wednesday evening and at the church from 11 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
Survivors are his wife, Marguerite; a daughter, Carol Susan at home; and a brother, William B. Smith, stationed in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He was a member of the Mingo American Legion Cyclops Post No. 534.
Mr. Smith had been a career Navy man.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne B. Smith, he was born Dec. 22, 1932 in Bethany, Mo., and attended Bethany schools.
He was married to Marguerite Boucher Oct. 12, 1953 in the Mingo United Methodist Church.
He died Sunday evening at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville.
