Baxter Resident Commits Suicide by Taking Poison
Nile Schweinebart, 24, Dies at Home of Father Thursday Noon
Despondency Over Long Period of Unemployment Given as Cause For Act; Will Be No Inquest
Baxter, March 3 – Special to the Daily News – Nile Schweinebart, 24, died at the home of his father here shortly before 12:00 o’clock Thursday noon after taking poison approximately an hour previously.
The young man is believed to have taken his own life because of worry and despondency, having been out of work for some time.
Takes Poison
Schweinebart took the poison at approximately 11:00 o’clock at the home of his father, Will Schweinebart. Other members of the household witnessed the action, but presumed he was taking a dose of salts and thought nothing of it until approximately a half-hour later when convulsions set in. A doctor was called immediately, but he was beyond help and died a few minutes later.
There will be no inquest; it was learned from County Coroner E. A. McMurray.
Funeral Services
He is survived by his widow and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2: 0’clock Saturday afternoon in the Boyd Funeral Home, with Rev. B. W. Northrup in charge. Burial will be in the Independent (sic) cemetery, two miles south of Baxter.

Rev. B. W. Northup of the Baxter Congregational church was in charge.
Nile Frederick Schweinebart was born March 29, 1909 on a farm in Eden township in Marshall County, Iowa. He attended the country school throughout the eight grades, later being a member of the Baxter High school for a period of three years. He took a course in electrical engineering from the Cook School at Chicago. Aside from about a year spent working at his trade in Chicago, Ill., his entire life was spent on the farm. He was united in marriage Aug. 8, 1932 to Miss Beatrice Stam. They made their home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schweinebart of Baxter until the time of his death.
He leaves surviving him his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schweinebart, one brother, Allen, and two sisters, Frances and Wilma at home.
