OBITUARY---FREEMAN P. CROSS
Cross, Freeman "Finn" P.Mr. Freeman P. Cross, better known as Finn Cross, was born July 6, 1853 and died December 31, 1921 in the Lane Hospital in San Francisco, California. He was 68 years 5 months and 25 days of age.
He was married in his early life to Mary Alice Snow and to this union were born five children and he was the father of one child by a former wife.
Both wives proceeded him in death as did one son. There are five children left to mourn this loss of a dear and devoted father.
Mr. Cross was at one time a resident of Colfax where he was prominently known in his line of work. As a businessman he is remembered here for the fact of his being the builder of the Colfax Northern Railroad. He left Colfax about fourteen years ago and went to San Francisco, California, where he has made his home until the time of his death.
He was connected with the will-known Crane Co., and was considered one of their most trust-worthy and efficient employees.
Mr. Cross has many friends and near relatives around and in Colfax. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Martha Barrett and Mrs. Jessie McLaughlin of Boone, Iowa and Charles Cross of San Francisco, California, and Frank and Freeman Cross of Peoria, Illinois who were here to attend the funeral. He is also mourned by three grandchildren. Freeman, Darwin and Thora Barrett of Boone, Iowa.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church at 2:00 o'clock on Saturday afternoon with Rev. E. G. Williams officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The children of F. P. Cross wish to express their sincere thanks to the many friends and neighbors of Colfax for their kind sympathies at the last rites for their dear father and especially wish to thank the members of the Christian Church Choir for their splendid music.
