This morning between three and four o’clock occurred the death of Walter Cross at the home of his father, Milton Cross, two and a half miles south of Baxter.
He was taken ill eight weeks ago of typhoid fever in North Dakota, and was brought home soon after he was taken sick, where it was thought with nursing and care he would recover.
About two weeks ago his condition became quite alarming and since that time little hope has been entertained by his family and friends that he would get well.
His brother, Attorney J. E. Cross, was called to the home Friday evening. This morning Mrs. Cross went to Baxter to remain until after the funeral. ~ The Newton [IA] Daily News, Monday, November 12, 1906, Page 1, Column 1
