Larry D. Clippinger, 86, of Altoona, died March 23, 2017, at his daughter’s residence in Missoula, Mont. A memorial visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. There will be a time for sharing at 1:45 p.m. Burial will take place at Waveland Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family at coburnfuneralhomes.com.
He was the son of Floyd and Florence Clippinger, born Sept. 30, 1930, in Colfax. Larry was a military veteran and a member of the Telephone Workers Union of Iowa. He worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 40 years. He had a great love of all animals, both wild and tame; from hunting to raising wildlife, hiking and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sandra L. Clippinger (Beaver) in December of 2008; and his brother, Robert Clippinger. Larry leaves behind his family members, daughter, Pam (Lindell) Ramsey of Sullivan, Mo., son, Scott (Cheri Carr) Clippinger of Madison, Wis., and daughter, Cindy Clippinger of Missoula, Mont.; and his three grandchildren, Brian Von Seggren, Emily (Mike) Swartwood and Karly Clippinger.
