Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tripp, south of town, are in deep affliction on account of the death of their bright little first born, Garner Riley, who passed away at ten o’clock Friday morning of last week, a victim of cholera infantum, succumbing after an illness of only thirteen hours. The little one was aged only 5 months and six days, but during his short life had entwined himself in the affections of his parents and grandparents so that his loss seems to have taken all the light out of their home.

The body was taken to Ashton Chapel in Clear Creek Township, where after a short service conducted by Mr. Daniel Crocker, it was laid to rest. Mr. and Mrs. Tripp request us to express their sincere thankful appreciation of the kindness of many friends and neighbors during their great affliction. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Friday, July 27, 1906, Page 4, Column 1 - Colfax
