Hold Rites for Mrs. W. Mead
Funeral services for Mrs. William W. Mead of Ira, 74, were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Murdoch Funeral home by the Rev. H. LeRoy Kinser. Burial was in the Union Chapel cemetery in Ira.
Pallbearers were Fred Esha, Frank Bucklin, Zenas Jones, Lloyd DeReus, Will Hoy and Ralph Hunter.
Music was furnished by Leonard James singing “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Rock of Ages,” accompanied by Mrs. R. L. Jackson.
Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Zenas Jones and Mrs. O. B. Dennis.
Mrs. Mead, the former Mary Belle Foreman, daughter of Zachariah and Lorana Pile Foreman, was born March 27, 1866, in Jasper county and had spent practically all her life here.
She was wed April 6, 1892, to William W. Mead and they spent some time in Grinnell and Baxter before moving to Ira about 40 years ago.
Surviving are her husband and a son, Lawrence of Ira, a brother, Ernest Foreman of Newton and two sisters, Mrs. John Nelson of Newton and Mrs. James Cory of Englewood, Calif.
