C. Herbold Dies Today
Retired Farmer had Been Resident of Colfax Since 1929
Colfax, Ia. (Special to The Daily News) – Chris H. Herbold, retired farmer living in Colfax since 1929, died at 12:05 this morning of influenza and complications. He had been ill a week.
Mr. Herbold, a man in his late 80’s, farmed extensively on land north and east of Colfax and retired in 1929.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and of the Three Quarter Century Club of The Newton Daily News and Jasper County Record.
Born in Germany, he came to Jasper county in 1870 and had lived here since. He was wed to Lydia Hickey in 1886 and to this union were born four children. One daughter, Minnie, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. John Hines of Des Moines and two sons, Will of north of Colfax and Charles at home.
Funeral arrangements were being made this afternoon.
