Life Story Of Ray Hagan
Ray A. Hagen, son of George W. and Sarah J. Moore Hagen, was born in Marion County on Oct. 14, 1883, and passed away at his home on Aug. 17, 1966.
Mr. Hagen moved to Jasper County as a child where he made his home the rest of his life. He was a blacksmith in Monroe for 35 years and was operating a lawn mower and saw shop until the time of his death.
He was united in marriage with Mrs. Eva Vos on February 23, 1956.
He attended the Methodist Church and was a 52 year member of the Monroe Knights of Pythias Lodge.
Mr. Hagen was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Mabel Kerr and Alpha Coffman; a son Howard, two daughters, Doris Six and Helen Whitlatch; five brothers, Will, Erwin, Charles, Ely, and Emmett; and three sisters, Ada, Luella and Iva.
The survivors are his wife Eva; two sisters, Carrie Wilkerson of El Reno, Okla., and Mrs. Belle Sabin of Oakland, Calif.; three step-children, Burton Coffman of Des Moines, Jack Coffman of Ill. and Helen Lindberg of Bellwood, Ill.; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Howard Hagen Elliot of Newton, 15 grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
