Life Story Of Ira Munger
Ira Albert Munger, lifelong resident of Jasper County, Iowa, was born August 4, 1900, the son of Daniel and Zaidee Munger, and departed this life following an illness of five years duration, at Van’s Nursing Home in Prairie City January 16, 1966, at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 12 days.
On November 28, 1928, Ira was united in marriage with Myrtle Valentine at the family farm south of Newton. To this union were born two children, Beulah and Carroll.
Mr. Munger engaged in various fields related to farming throughout his lifetime. For many years he and his family operated a dairy, delivering milk for 15 years or more in the Monroe area. For a period of 15 years the Mungers operated a pony ride at the Iowa State Fair, as well as at many local fairs. Through the years he did seasonal work with PAG and for a time worked on the Crumpacker farms.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and his daughter, Beulah. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; his son, Carroll, of Newton; five grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Fred (Gertie) Gearhart of Adel, Mrs. Howard (Bertha) Besco of Albia, Mrs. Louis (Leona) Scheels and Mrs. Daisy Finch; and two brothers, John and Ernie, all of Newton; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Monroe Methodist Church.
The Rev. James E. Poulsen, minister of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Monroe Cemetery.
