Rites Wednesday For Chester Fennema
Chester Fennema, 83, a retired farmer, died at Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Monday.
He was born in Marion county April 4, 1881, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Fennema and was married July 18, 1899 to Jennie Kaldenberg. He lived all of his life in Marion and Jasper counties.
He is survived by four daughters and two sons. They are Mrs. Glenn (Mable) McConeghey of Monroe; Mrs. Bertha Crane of Des Moines; Mrs. Roy (Jennie) Vander Waal of Apache Junction, Ariz.; Helen C. Fennema of Thomasville, Ga.; Herman of Mt. Ayr and Carl of Monroe.
One brother, Herman of Pella, and a sister, Mrs. Madge McIntire of Belton, Mo., also survive.
Services were held at the Monroe Baptist church Wednesday with the Rev. Russell Farrell and the Rev. James Poulsen officiating. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery.

Life Story Of Chester Fennema
Chester Fennema, son of Herman and Grietje Fennema, was born April 4, 1881 near Otley, Iowa, and departed this life January 27, 1964, at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines at the age of 82 years and 9 months.
He was united in marriage to Jennie Kaldenberg in 1889 and to this marriage were born four daughters, Mrs. Mabel McConeghey of Monroe, Mrs. Bertha Crane of Des Moines, Mrs. Jessie Vanderwaal of Apache Junction, Ariz., Helen Fennema of Thomasille, Ga.; and two sons, Herman of Mt. Ayr, and Carl of Monroe.
Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie; five brothers, Walter, Jacob, Garret, John and Basil; and two sisters, Alice and Jane. He is survived by his children; one brother, Herman and one sister, Mrs. Madge McIntire; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the Monroe Baptist church with the Rev. Russell Farrell and the Rev. James Poulsen officiating. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery.
Soloist was Mrs. Thelma Lewis and organist Mrs. Lorraine Honnold. Floral arrangements were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Al Chamberlin. Pallbearers were Dean Woody, Dale McConeghey, John Nolin, Donald Vander Pol, Delmar Johnson and Jack Currier.
