Life Story Of George Waddle
George Robert Waddle, son of James and Margaret Maines Waddle, was born April 29, 1893, five miles west of Monroe and passed away at Collins hospital in Knoxville Saturday, Nov. 2, 1963 at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 4 days.
He was united in marriage to Merle Clevenger February 25, 1913, and to this union six children were born: Doyle, Mrs. Forrest (Wanda) Walker and Dean all of Monroe; Mrs. John (Velda) Munson of Belleville, Kan., and Mrs. Lee (Zella Mae) Rickabaugh of Ottumwa. One son, Dwight, preceded him in death on July 28, 1938.
He had spent his entire life farming in the Monroe community. He had been a member of the First Baptist church for nearly 50 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, five children, 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Bess Nimmo of Monroe and two brothers, Will of Des Moines and Alec of Hayward, Calif.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church with the Rev. Russell Farrell, pastor of the church, in charge.
Organ music was played by Mrs. Devayne Honnold. Mrs. S. B. Worth, Mrs. Orville Marshall and Mrs. Robert Robison were in charge of floral arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers were Ray Nimmo, David Nimmo, Ralph Waddle, Chester Marshall, Lloyd Clevenger and Keith Stevens.
Burial was in the Monroe cemetery.
