Life Story of Ruth Corr
Ruth Catharine Corr, daughter of James Edwin and Dora Hisky Corr, was born on a farm near Monroe August 17, 1886. She attended Fair Prairie country school after which she enrolled in Monroe high school but after a few months was forced to quit because of ill health.
In 1917 the family moved to Monroe where she resided with her parents until their death. She then went to Mankato, Minn., to make her home with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Jarnagin. As long as her health permitted, she returned each year to spend the summer months with her brother and sister-in-law, the late Bennett Corr and his wife, Beulah.
In 1955 Mr. and Mrs. Jarnagin moved to Newton. Always frail, Ruth’s health had become so impaired that she remained in their home until entering a hospital. She passed away at Ottumwa August 30 at the age of 77 years and 13 days.
Survivors of her family besides her sister, Louise Jarnagin, are a niece, Lucile Jarnagin Gray, and three grand-nieces. She also leaves a number of cousins of which Mark Shaw is the only one living in Iowa.
Besides her parents and brother, Bennett, who preceded her in death, were two infant brothers.
She united with the Methodist church at Monroe in 1918.
