Services Held For Joe Van Baale Sun.
Funeral services for Joseph Van Baale were held in Crumpacker Funeral Home Sunday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Edward C. Zook, pastor of the Church of the Brethren in Prairie City, officiating.
Mrs. Juanita Dockum, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Letha Gloyd, was the soloist.
Pallbearers were Ernest Kane, Kameron Hughes, William Findlow, William Erskin, Chase Rinehart and Elsmer Walker. Burial was in Monroe cemetery.
Mr. Van Baale was born January 29, 1887 near Pella to Jacob and Martha Van Baale and passed away September 8 at his home in Monroe.
He was married to Izola Lowes on January 5, 1909 at Higbee, Mo. In 1928 he moved from New Sharon to the Percy community, where he resided until 14 years ago, when he moved to Monroe, his residence until his death.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; five sons, Henry of Knoxville, Fred of Colfax, Wayne, Howard and Harold of Prairie City; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Will; 14 half-brothers; two half-sisters; and one great grandson.
He was a 25-year member of the Jasper Lodge 168 of IOOF in Monroe.
In 1959 he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
