Services Saturday For Mrs. M. Garland
Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Garland, 77, a longtime resident of the Monroe community. She passed away Thursday evening at Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines.
Services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Newton with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. T. J. McCann conducting.
Mrs. Altman was organist with Martha Polson as soloist. Pallbearers were Jerome Coakley, Dean Vaught, Harold Bowie, James Day, Lavere McDevitt and Lester Schmitt. Interment was in the Monroe cemetery.
Mrs. Garland is survived by two sons, Marvin and Conrad of Monroe, and three grandchildren.
She was born September 2, 1882 at Jamaica, Iowa. She came to the Monroe vicinity more than 30 years ago.
