Death of Former Resident
Mattie Thompson, 90, of Newton and a former resident of rural Colfax, died Saturday afternoon, April 25, at the Skiff Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Reese Chapel in Newton. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery near Lynnville.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.
She attended the Methodist Church in Colfax prior to their moving to Newton in 1963.
The daughter of Frank and Nellie DeBruyn, she was born Sept. 6, 1890. She was united in marriage to James Thompson in 1917.
