Mr. Frank Talbot, who passed away Sunday about noon at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Talbot, three and one-half miles southeast of town, was nearly twenty-six years old. He was born on a farm in Clear Creek Township June 9, 1880. Two years ago he was married to Miss Hattie Wilcox. One daughter, Mabel, was born to them. The wife and little daughter, father, mother, one sister, Mrs. Henry Brotherson, and two brothers, William and Ralph, are members of the immediate family who mourn his early death.

In his boyhood, Mr. Talbot joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. He had lived a true life and won the respect of a large number of friends.

Last August he was ill for several weeks of malarial fever, which left his lungs very much affected. In his weakened condition he could not seem to throw off the disease, which had settled there, so early in the winter, about the first of December, in company with his wife and little daughter and father, he went to New Mexico hoping and thinking the change of climate and a winter spent in a warm country would restore him to his usual health.

But, though he had all care and attention, although everything was done that could be done, he did not recover, and three weeks ago he returned to the home from which he has now gone forever.

The sympathy of kindred friends and neighbors is extended to the members of this family and especially to the young wife and baby daughter in their sorrow.

The last rites over the remains were conducted by Elder J. C. Willits, of Oskaloosa, who was assisted by Rev. A. W. McBlain, of the Newton circuit. These services were held at 11 o’clock this morning, were attended by many, and beautiful flowers were sent by relatives and friends. The singers were: Mrs. C. Charlesworth, miss Belle Charlesworth, Messrs George Shelly, and Merritt Charlesworth. The pallbearers were Dan Stanton, Frank Reese, Louie Brotherson, Carl Bisom, George Eggart and Clark Dunn. ~ The Newton Daily News, Tuesday, April 24, 1906, Page 4, Column 4
==============================================
Frank O. Talbot.

Dies at the Home of His Parents on Sunday Afternoon.

For several years the tenderest sympathy of this community has been centered in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Talbot, 3 1/2 miles southeast of town, where their son, Frank O. Talbot, was gradually growing weaker and weaker, a victim of quick consumption, which all human agencies seem powerless to check. He quietly and peacefully passed away just before two o'clock last Sunday afternoon, aged almost twenty-six years.

Frank was born in Elk Creek Township near Galesburg, June 9, 1880. In 1904, little more than two years ago, he was happily married to Miss Hattie Wilcox and to them was given a little daughter, Mabel, now a little more than a year old. Last August he had quite a severe attack of malarial fever which left his lungs in so weakened condition that by the advice of his physician he went to Roswell, New Mexico, in the fore-part of December, accompanied by his wife and his father. The changing climate did not accomplish the good hoped for. His parents were both with him a good part of the time while he was away, and he finally decided that he would be just as well off at home and about three weeks ago he arrived but not being able to take charge of his own home, he and his little family have been stopping at the parents home, where all that kindred hearts could suggest has been done for him. Besides his parents, wife and daughter he leaves one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Ella Broderson, Willie and Ralph Talbot.

Frank was an upright, conscientious, young man, very popular in the community where his life had been passed and will be sorely missed by a large circle of friends. From his childhood he had been a member of Grace M. E. Church of Palo Alto Township, where the funeral was held yesterday morning at 11 o'clock. The attendance was one of the largest ever held in the church, scarcely one half of the people being able to get within the doors. The services were conducted by presiding elder J. C. Willits and the pastor A. W. McBlain. Appropriate music was rendered by Mrs. Chas. Charlesworth, Miss Belle Charlesworth, Mr. Geo. Shelley and Mr. Merritt Charlesworth The pallbearers were from among Frank companions-Dan Stanton, Frank Rees, Louie Brotherson, Carl Bisom, George Eggert and Clark Dunn. Many beautiful flowers were presented by sympathizing friends. For the bereaved friends the profoundest sympathies felt especially for the young wife and the baby daughter, who are now passing to the greatest sorrow of their lives. ~ Newspaper name unknown, 1906
