Mrs. Lucy A. Shaw, whose death occurred last Sunday at six o’clock, after an illness of nine days of pneumonia, had been a resident of Jasper County forty-one years. Mrs. Shaw’s maiden name was Lucy A. Mallory. She was born in Bucyrus, Ohio, December 19, 1834.

At nineteen years of age she was married to E. B. Shaw, and about twelve years later they removed to this county, where she has since made her home.

During her childhood she joined the Methodist Church and all these years she has been a true faithful Christian.

Mrs. Shaw leaves no children of her own but here are three stepchildren, Mrs. Jane Comstock of Wyandotte, Ohio, Rev. C. W. Shaw of Canyon City, Colorado and Mrs. J. A. Hall of this city. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. L. Cross, who has made her home with her sister, Mrs. Emma E. Mays of Oklahoma, who arrived last Saturday and was with her when death came and three brothers Cyrus S. Mallory of Toledo, Ohio, George G. of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Benjamin G. of Brainerd, Minnesota.

The funeral was held at the residence this morning at 10 o’clock. The services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. O. S. Baker. The pallbearers were E. C. Ogg, C. P. Axtell, Henry Phillips, A. J. Cheniworth, L. L. D. Kennedy and Eli Richardson. The music was furnished by Miss Bernice Jackson, Mrs. Nora Knepper, Ernest Earley and Eugene Bean, accompanied by Mrs. Grace Allen.
