Belle Ann Durr Dies Early Today; Rites Wednesday
BETHEL – Mrs. Otto (Belle Ann) Durr, 77, of Rt. 1 Grinnell, a longtime resident of the Bethel Community, died this morning at the Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. Carl Klein, pastor of the Bethel United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home starting this evening.
Survivors are a son, Maynard E. of Rt. 2, Grinnell; three daughters, Mrs. Wendel B. (Golda) Sleeuwenhoek of Younkers, N.Y. (sic-other two not named); 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Kaisand of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild, three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Durr was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and she and her husband were members of a mobile home club.
The daughter of Robert and Martha Ashby Thompson, she was born Aug. 23, 1902 in Richland Township and attended rural area schools.
She was married Feb. 11, 1924 in Newton.
Mr. and Mrs. Durr had made their winter home in Texas for a number of years.
