Former Resident of County Dies Saturday Night
Philip Barth, former resident of jasper County died Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Clement near Maxwell, after an illness of several months. He was past 60 years of age.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Sugar Grove grange hall and burial will be in the Sugar Grove cemetery.
Mr. Barth is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ed Clement and Mrs. Cora Green and one son, Verne Barth. Mr. Barth, for many years was a resident of the Metz and Sugar Grove neighborhoods.

Conduct Barth Funeral Rites
Former Resident of Jasper County is Buried in Wittemberg Cemetery.
Funeral services for Philip Barth were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Sugar Grove grange hall and burial was in the Wittemberg cemetery. The services were conducted by the Rev. C. R. Greene, pastor of the Newton Methodist Protestant church.
Pallbearers were H. E. Moffitt, Mel Engle, H. I. Allfree, Sam Clement, E. C. Emmack and L. C. Gearhart. Music was furnished by Mrs. Ned Pierson, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Sale Scott of Farrar, Ia.
Philip J. Barth was born Dec. 15, 1866 in Muscatine county, Iowa. In 1891 he was united in marriage with Carrie Luella States and to this union four children were born, Amy, Emma, Cora and Veren all of whom are living except Emma, who died at the age of 10 years.
He is survived by his family, one sister, Mrs. W. F. Helfinstine, who resides at Sioux Falls and three brothers, Mart and John of Laramie, Wyo., and George, who lives at Saratoga, Wyo. He died at the home of his daughter, Amy Clement, near Farrar, Ia., Nov. 9. He was a former resident of Jasper county.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Clement and Mr. and Mrs. Rome Clement all of Farrar, Ia., were among the out-of-town residents present at the funeral.
