Death of Daniel Armentrout

The subject of this sketch was born in Rockingham County, Va., June 21, 1817, and died at his home in Newton, Saturday, July 3, 1897.

When a child he removed with his parents to Knox County, Ohio, where he remained until of age, learning the trade of cabinetmaker. In 1848 he was united in marriage with Miss Nancy Armentrout, and in 1854 they come to Newton, where they had resided since with exception of a few years spent on a farm in Buena Vista Township.

Mr. Armentrout was for many years a member of the Baptist Church and his life’s record is that of a consistent Christian, always enjoying the confidence and esteem of all who knew him. No children blessed the union of this worthy couple, but an adopted daughter, Mrs. H. C. Davis of Denver, Col., is left to mourn with the aged widow.

The funeral was held at the Baptist Church, Sunday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. Frush of Knoxville. A large number of old friends gathered to pay their respects to the memory of one whom they had known and loved for nearly a half century. ~ The Newton Record Friday, July 9, 1897
