Edward Emmack died at the home of his son, John Emmack, in Sherman Township, Thursday evening, March 1, 1906, at eight o’clock. He had been an invalid for three years, but only for the past three weeks was his condition considered serious.

Mr. Emmack was born in Pennsylvania, Nov. 19, 1830. His age at the time of his death was seventy-five years, three months and twelve days. During his childhood and young manhood he resided in Muskingum County, Ohio. He was married to Rebecca Trusler. Three children were born to them: Chas. H., John V., and Mrs. Anna Haifleigh, all residing in Sherman Township.

Besides the children and wife he is survived by eleven grandchildren and two brothers and three sisters, William Emmack of Columbus City, Mo., Mrs. Margaret Trusler of Ira, Mrs. Hattie Smith of Atalissa and his sister Caroline whose home is in Ohio.

The funeral was held from the home of his son, John Emmack, Saturday at 1 p.m. conducted by Rev. Young of Adair County, pastor of the United Brethren Church, of which the deceased was a member. The music was furnished by Mesdames Chas Botsford and Harry Hesson and Messrs. Earl Hadley and Grant Hurst and the pallbearers were his old neighbors and friends, John Kendig, Lawson and Chas. Watt, Peter Pink, M. Beals and Chas. Botsford. The interment was in the cemetery near Metz. ~ The Newton Daily News, Monday, March 5, 1906, Page 1, Column 2

Edward Emmack was born in Pennsylvania, November 17, 1830, and died at about seven o'clock Thursday morning, March first, 1906, after nearly three months' sickness of heart trouble. Deceased was 75 years, three months and twelve days old at the time of his death. He was married to Rebecca Trusler February 15, 1855 in Norwich, Muskingum county, Ohio. To them were born three children, who, with his wife survive him. They are Charles H., John V, and Mrs. Anna Haifleigh, all of whom live in Sherman township. He also leaves two brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Margaret Trusler, who resides at the John Sego home near Ira; Mrs. Hattie Myers of Atalissa, Iowa and a sister, Carolina, of Ohio; William of Columbus City, Illinois; Charles Emmack, of Kansas City, Missouri.

The funeral services were held at the home near Sand Hill school house in Sherman township, on Saturday, March third, at one o'clock in the afternoon. Rev. Young of the U. B. church of Carlyle, Iowa, conducting the services.

A quartet composed of Mrs. Harry Hesson, Mrs. Charlie Botsford, Earl Hadley and Grant Hurst sang several selections.

Messrs. John Kendig, Charles and Lawson Watt, Mike Bales, P. R. Pink and Charlie Botsford were the pall bearers. Interment at Metz cemetery.

A Good Man Taken.

Edward Emmack, for many years a resident of this county and highly esteemed by a large circle of friends died at eight o’clock Thursday evening lat, March 1st, at the home of his son John in Sherman Township where the closing years of his long and useful life had been happily spent, notwithstanding the gradual failing of health which began about three years ago. He had attained the ripe age of 75 years, 3 months and 12 days.

Mr. Emmack was a native of Pennsylvania, born Nov. 1, 1830, but the earlier years of his life, up to young manhood were spent in Muskingum County, Ohio, where on the 15th of February, 1855, he was married to Miss Rebecca Trussler who with the three children born to them, survive him-Charles H. and John V. Emmack and Mrs. Anna M. Haifleigh, all of whom reside in Sherman Township, and were near their venerable father to cheer, comfort and aid during his long illness, and upon whom the widowed mother can now lean in her great bereavement.

Funeral services were held in the home at one o’clock Saturday, conducted by Rev. Mr. Young, a circuit preacher of the United Brethren Church, and for some time a pastor of the church at Metz. The interment was in the cemetery near Metz. ~ Newspaper name unknown, 1906.
