Mrs. Sina Olson Dies at Age 87, Funeral Tuesday
Mrs. Sina Dorothy Olson, 87, of Newton, died early this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Fisher, 507 North Ninth avenue East, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock at Johnson – Murdoch Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Ralph Eckard, pastor of the First Lutheran church of which Mrs. Olson was a member.
Mrs. Olson lived in Newton for many years. She was born in Sweden on Dec. 27, 1864, to Arron and Anna Carlson, and came to the United States and Iowa at the age of 19.
Survivors are one son, Carl Carlson of Oskaloosa; four daughters, Mrs. Ludwig Johnson of Albia, Mrs. Ivan Lewis of Waukee, Mrs. Ernest Norberg of Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. Albert Fisher of Newton; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Albertina Nelson of Bessemer, Pa. Her husband preceded her in death.
Burial will be at Oakview cemetery at Albia.

Funeral Tuesday In Newton for Mrs. Sina Olson
Funeral services for Mrs. Sina Dorothy Olson, 87, Newton resident who died Saturday after a long illness, will be held tomorrow afternoon at one o’clock at Johnson-Murdoch Funeral Home.
Mrs. Olson was a native of Sweden, came to Iowa when she was 19 and had lived in Newton for many years.
Rev. Ralph E. Eckard, pastor of First Lutheran church, will be in charge of services. Music will be by Dick McKibben, soloist, and Mrs. R. L. Jackson, organist.
On the flower committee will be Mrs. Don Yeutsy, Mrs. Loyal Gooch and Mrs. Lindsey Brooks. Pallbearers will be Don Yeutsy, Loyal Gooch, Lindsey Brooks, Doc Cooper, Frank Fisher and David Roberts.
Graveside services will be held at three o’clock tomorrow afternoon at Oakview cemetery in Albia.
