Tuesday February 28, 1978Services for Dwight L. W. Hanel, 85, of rural Prairie City, were held today at the Prairie City United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Oren Roger, Pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife Gertrude; a son, Larry of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Rosemary) Stouffer of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Hanel, a veteran of World War I, was a member of the Prairie City American Legion.
The son of Louis and Senia McCracken Hanel, he was born April 27, 1892 at Severs and was graduated from Prairie City Community High School.
He was married to Gertrude Kane January 14, 1920 at Des Moines. He died Sunday at his home.
