Tuesday, July 6, 1982Funeral services for Mrs. William Edward (Elsie) Tice, 85, of Prairie City were held today at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. The Rev. Harold Green, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Des Moines, conducted services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
PEO memorial services were held Monday evening at the Walters-Colburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. She died Friday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (R. Anne) Sievers of Altoona; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Gertrude Hanel of Prairie City and Gaye Schaphorst of Brookings, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers.
Mrs. Tice was a member of the United Methodist Church in Prairie City, KK Klub and AV chapter of the PEO.
Mrs. Tice, a former teacher in several Iowa schools including Monroe and Prairie City, also had been a receptionist at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
The daughter of Dan and Louise Wassenaar Kane, she was born May 21, 1897 in Prairie City, was graduated from Prairie City Community High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls. She was married July 31, 1927.
