Oscar Korff, 54, Dies Sunday Night
Jasper County Farmer Dies Following Two-Month IllnessOscar Korff, 54, life-long resident of Jasper county, died Sunday at 9:30 p.m. at his home, located west of Newton and one and one-fourth miles north of the Sugar Grove Grange hall.
Mr. Korff has been suffering for two months with a malignant disease and had been a patient at the Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton and at the Baker hospital in Muscatine. He was brought to his home from Muscatine Saturday.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Murdoch funeral home and interment will be in the Newton Union cemetery.
Mr. Korff, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Korff of Killduff and a half-brother, Charles Korff of Newton.
He was united in marriage to Minnie Rifenburg on Dec. 11, 1907, and to this union one daughter, Alice R. Korff, was born. They had lived on the present farm west of Newton for the last 18 years.
Surviving relatives include his wife and daughter; a brother, Lou Korff of Huron, S.D.; a nephew, Beryl Korff of Fairbault, Minn., and three niece, Zelma Korff of Newton, Celia Korff of Huron, S.D., and Mrs. Ruth Korff Mercer of California, but formerly of Newton.
The brother from Huron, S.D., and the nephew from Fairbault, Minn., are expected in Newton for the rites. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton Iowa, December 14, 1936.
