Florence Elizabeth Stone, age 85 of Monroe, formerly of Albia, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at her home surrounded by family in Monroe, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Tharp-Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Burial will be Oak View Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Tharp-Winfield Funeral Home, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
An open memorial has been established in Florence’s name.

Florence was born March 17, 1926, in Albia, to Earl and Ruth (Collins) Miller. She married Fred Stone on December 25, 1943 in Albia at the United Brethren Church. They were married thirty-nine years before Fred’s passing on October 30, 1982. Florence grew up and attended school in Albia. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Albia and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She also liked to fish, play cards, cook, and make quilts for all her grandchildren.
Florence is survived by two daughters, Patricia Klingensmith of Monroe and Donna (Richard) Peterson of Albia; a daughter-in-law, Lynda Stone of Avery. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; a son Michael; parents; a son-in-law, Dale Klingensmith; and three brothers, Robert, Russell, and Merle.
