N. J. Reddick Dies Here Today
Newton Man Dies at Age of 43 Years; To Hold Funeral Services Sunday
Norman J. Reddick, 43, 117 West Tenth Street North, died this morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital following an illness of pulmonary tuberculosis. He had been seriously ill for the last six weeks and been a patient at the hospital during that time.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Morgan funeral home by Dr. Leslie G. Logan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. The body will be taken to Downs, Kan., for burial.
Mr. Reddick was born in Downs, Kan., Oct. 31, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Reddick. Following the death of his first wife, Mrs. Hazel Carey Reddick 11 years ago, he came to Newton from Downs.
Later, he was united in marriage to Margaret Beall at Ottumwa in 1926, and the couple lived in Newton all of their married life. At the time of his illness, Mr. Reddick was employed in the assembling department at the Maytag company.
He was a member of the Baptist church at Downs.
Surviving relatives are his wife; a daughter, Lucille, 18, by his first marriage; his mother, Mrs. N. E. Reddick of Downs; four brothers, W. J. Reddick of Newton, and John, Thomas and Earl Reddick, all of Downs, and three sisters, Mrs. Harry Jones of Pretty Prairie, Kan., Mrs. Will McNeely of San Pedro, Calif., and Mrs. Lou Claycamp of Molalla, Ore.
