Mr. Jacob Helphrey died at his residence in Newton Sept 23, 1883, aged 79 years. Mr. Helphrey was born in Virginia July 22, 1804, was married to Catherine Warner in Licking, Ohio on Dec. 22, 1824. Removed to Iowa in 1853 where he has since resided.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon and a large concourse of our people accoompanied the remains to their final resting place in our beautiful cemetery.
