Well-Known Retire Farmer Succumbs Unexpectedly of Heart Attack

Louie Aillaud, 78, well-known Jasper county retired farmer and resident of Newton for over 20 years, succumbed unexpectedly of a heart attack at 8:00 o’clock this morning at his home, 309 West Fourth street South. Mr. Aillaud was released Saturday from the Mercy hospital in Des Moines, where he had recently undergone an operation and was believed to be recovering satisfactorily.

Services Wednesday

Funeral services will be held at 2:30, Wednesday, at the Morgan Funeral home with Dr. Loren M. Edwards, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in Newton Union cemetery.

A native of Scott county, Iowa, Mr. Aillaud was born July 14, 1866, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Aillaud. He had been a resident of Jasper county since early manhood.

On Feb. 21, 1893, he was married to Mima Butler. The couple went to housekeeping on the Aillaud home place near Newton, alter purchasing the Ed Donahey farm one mile west of Newton, where they lived until their retirement in 1911.

Build Home

After spending a year in California, they returned to Newton and built their present home. Mr. and Mrs. Aillaud celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Newton on February 21, 1943, at a dinner extended in their honor at the W.L. Aillaud home.

Surviving are his wife and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Aillaud was a member of the Newton B. P. O. Elks and Masonic lodges. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa, February 12, 1945.
