Tice Funeral Held Friday
Mrs. Robert Tice, 37, Died Wed. Morning at Home In Monroe
Funeral services for Mrs. Elmina Tice, 37, wife of Robert R. Tice, were held last Friday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church in Monroe with Rev. O. S. Hesseltine officiating.
Mrs. Tice passed away Wednesday afternoon after a long period of illness at her home in Monroe. She is survived by her husband and one son Herchul, her father, Adam Herwehe and a great many other relatives and friends.
Music was furnished by a male quartet composed of Guy Wilson, Horace Cash, Oscar Ammer and Carl Ammer, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. R. B. Gloyd. Pall bearers were Howard Roberts, Dr. L. D. Anderson, Frank North, Harrison LeGrand, Laurel Buckley and Chas. Hetherington. The text selected for the sermon by Rev. O. S. Hesseltine was taken from Jeremiah, the fifteenth chapter, the ninth verse: “Her sun is gone down while it was yet day.”
Among the relatives and friends who attended from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mick of Reasnor, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Marks of Galesburg, Mrs. Lain De Penning, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Brunner, Mr. and Mrs. John Brunner, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kling, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tice of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Tice of Knoxville, E. C. Stroup and Glenn Six of Des Moines.
Obituary
Elmina Herwehe, daughter of Adam and Sarah Herwehe, one of eleven children, was born near Monroe, Ia., Sept. 22nd, 1895 and departed this life at her home in Monroe Feb. 8th, 1933, at the age of 37 years, 4 months and sixteen days.
On December first 1915, she was united in marriage to Robert R. Tice of Monroe. To this union were born two children: a son who died in infancy and Herchul who with his father, remains to share her loss.
Her mother, one sister Vernie and one brother, Steven, have preceded her in death. Besides her husband and son, she leaves to mourn her going, her father, three sisters, Mrs. Emma McCauley and Mrs. Rose Oldham of Monroe, and Mrs. Sarah Tool of Newton; five brothers, Jake, Earl and Howard of Monroe, Fred of Des Moines and Ernest of Boulevard, Calif., and a host of other relatives and friends.
She united with the Monroe Methodist Episcopal church December 5, 1913 and has continued a faithful member of the same. At the time of her death she was a member of the Methodist Ladies Guild and of the Marthas and Marys Sunday School class.
