Madeline N. Slings, age 90 of Prairie City, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Park Ridge Nursing and Rehab in Pleasant Hill. In accordance with Madeline’s wishes there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to the Prairie City Public Library and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The daughter of Reuben J. and Retha (Cowan) French, Madeline was born on September 12, 1924, in Jasper County. She graduated from Prairie City High School and Iowa State University. Madeline taught school at Prairie City High School for 30 years. She was united in marriage to Rodger I. Slings in 1948. She was a member of the T.T.T. in Prairie City and MNO also in Prairie City.
Survivors include her three children: Rodger J. Slings and his wife Ceil, Suzanne Samson and her husband Mark and Bob Slings and his wife Lori; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in 1970, and two sisters, Evangeline Wilson and Marguerite Trunnel. She was also preceded in death by a great grandson, Drake Weyers.
