Former Resident Succumbs Sunday
Mrs. Guy Langmaid, 51, Dies in Marshalltown Hospital
Mrs. Guy Langmaid, former resident of this city, died Sunday evening at the St. Thomas hospital in Marshalltown following a four months illness with diabetes.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the First Presbyterian church at Marshalltown and the body will then be brought to Newton where a short prayer service will be conducted at the cemetery at 3:30 o’clock.
Mrs. Langmaid was the daughter of David and Alice Hellyer, residents of this city a number of years ago. She was born June 29, 1879 on a farm near Newton and she remained a resident of this vicinity for 30 years. She attended the Newton schools and after graduation taught for several years in the rural schools of the county.
She was united in marriage to Guy Langmaid at Newton, April 4, 1907 and they have made their home in Marshalltown for the past 21 years.
She was active in the work of the Presbyterian church at Marshalltown, being president of the missionary society and a member of the ladies Aid society. She was also a Past Noble Grand officer of the Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans.
She is survived by her husband, an adopted daughter, Mary, three sisters, Mae Murdoch of Newton, Inez Ridenour of West Liberty and Faye Rodine of Canada and by one brother, Fred Hellyer of near Newton.

Mrs. J. G. Langmaid
Funeral services for Mrs. J. G. Langmaid, 113 North Fifteenth street, Marshalltown, who died last Sunday were held at 1:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church with Rev. O. D. Ellett in charge. Burial was in Newton cemetery.
Pallbearers at Marshalltown were W. W. Overmyer, M. D. Klise, F. W. Iseman, C. A. Newcomer, Cecil Berggren and W. H. Gelvin.
Flowers were in charge of Mr. E. G. Clinton, Mrs. David Martin, Mrs. James Newell, Mrs. H. C. Lounsberry, Mrs. Arrilla Kleespie, Miss Bertha Spratt and Miss Laura Robinson.
Pallbearers at Newton were Don and Dale Langmaid, Danny and Donald Mackaman, Earl Hadley and Louis Jensma.
Members of Rebekah lodge, No. 40 attended the services at Marshalltown in a body.
Relatives from out of town who attended the services were two sisters, Mrs C. S. Ridenour and family of West Liberty and Mr. and Mrs. William Murdoch of Newton, one brother, Fred Hellyer and Mrs. Hellyer, of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Burl Crocelius and family of Eldora, Mrs. Mary Whitmer of Sioux City, Mrs. Verda Mountain of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Morley and Claude Badger of Newburg, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Langmaid and family, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mackaman, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Mackaman, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Failor and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Damman, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kreager, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hadley, Arthur Joy, all of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Maxson and family of West Liberty, Mr. and Mrs. William Badger and Mr. and Mrs. John Ahrens of Grinnell.
Friends from out of town were Rev. and Mrs. R. S. Mills, Mrs. Frank DeBolt, Pearl Haifleigh, Mrs. J. C. Haifleigh and Mrs. John Day, all of Newton. Mr. and Mrs. Casper Smith, Mrs. Lulu Smith and daughter, Geneva and Albert Cook of Liscomb and Mr. and Mrs. Eli Mantz of Green Mountain.
