Ira, June 11 – Special to the Daily News – Brief funeral services for C. L. Palmer were held at his home in Cambridge and at the Union Chapel near Ira with Rev. G. L. Hufstader officiating. Impressive Masonic ritualistic services were held at the grave and were conducted by members of Tabernacle 452.
A quartet from Cambridge consisting of C. M. Webb, Mrs. Carrie Scot, Mrs. Joe Apaland and Gorton Nelson furnished the music.
Pallbearers were J. B. Nelson, A. K. Applegate, O. A. Buland, O. L. Elliott, J. E. Davis and Joseph Larson.
Clermont Lamont Palmer was born in Albany, N.Y., August 27, 1851 and died at the home of his son, Ray Palmer, May 21 at the age of 79 years, nine months. He was adopted when he was 12 months of age by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bolt.
He moved to Illinois with his adopted parents and was there married to Isabella Clark, Sept. 24, 1874. Five children were born to this union, Winifred who died in 1909, one son who died in infancy and Bessie Scot of Shelbyville, Mo., Clyde of Belle Plaine and Ray of Cambridge. Also surviving him are six grand children.
In 1900, Mr. Palmer moved with his family to Iowa and for 20 years had resided in Ira. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and of the Masonic lodge.
