Florence May Leach was born April 18, 1865, at Atlantic, Iowa, but her parents moved to Colfax soon afterwards. The family moved to Ohio for a few years, but returned here in 1886, and since that time Mrs. Woods had spent her entire life here.
She was united in marriage to Harry Woods April 2, 1888, at Des Moines, Iowa. They spent their first year of married life on a farm in O’Brien county, returning then to Jasper county which has since been their home. Also two sisters, Mrs. Melissa Byers of Alleman, Mich., and Mrs. Laura Beaulieu of Huntington Beach, Calif., and one brother, Harvey R. Leach of Fairbault, Minn.
In 1939, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Woods celebrated their golden wedding.
She was a member of the Baptist church having united with that organization when 13 years of age. She was devoted to her home and family and was never happier than when surrounded by her family in their homecomings.
