George S. Weirick Rites Held Monday
George Stanley Weirick, eldest son of Harry A. and Mamie Herbold Weirick, was born Nov. 12, 1888 at Bevington, Iowa. He died Sept. 12, 1972 at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
George and Nelle Turner were married Jan. 1, 1916 at Colfax and they had three children: George T. of this community, Mary Barbara who died in infancy, and Miriam (Mrs. James F. Crawford) of Atlanta, Georgia.
After having graduated from Newton High School in 1906, he moved with his parents to Colfax, where he has remained for his entire life. He was graduated from the Highland Park College of Pharmacy at Des Moines, Feb. 4, 1908, and started work immediately for his father in Colfax. After working for several years he purchased an interest in the business and later became the sole owner and continued as an active Pharmacist for sixty-four years.
George always had a keen interest in people and community affairs and served many groups in various capacities, among which were: Elder and Trustee in the Presbyterian Church, school board, city council, library board, Master of the Masonic Lodge, Red Cross Committee, and Four H Fair Committee.
Surviving are his wife, Nelle; and children, George T. and Miriam; and grandchildren: Barbara, Beth, Belinda and Brenda Weirick of Colfax and Cathy and David Crawford of Atlanta, Ga. Also surviving is a half-brother, John A. Weirick of Colfax.
Funeral services were held Sept. 25, 1972 at 2 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church at Colfax.
The Rev. Roy Allen Wilson, minister of the church, conducted the services.
Mrs. James Monroe was the organist.
The bearers were: Leo Beard, Royal Cross, Robert Hopkins, Keith Keipp, Robert Patterson and Otto Tennant.
Mrs. Leo Beard, Mrs. Robert Patterson and Mrs. Iden Shissler were in charge of the flowers.
Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.

It has helped more than we can say to know that you were available if needed and his appreciation was as deep as our own.
