Mrs. Lydia McQuiston Died Saturday
Mrs. Lydia Streeter McQuiston, 90, a former resident of this city, died at a nursing home in Altoona Saturday, June 13th at 5:00 p.m.
Mrs. McQuiston was born July 18, 1868 in Story County, Ia., the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Stock Streeter. She received her education in the rural schools of the county and joined the Methodist Church in Mingo in 1887. On September 30, 1929 she was united in marriage to George McQuiston and the couple made this city their home for several years. Mrs. McQuiston had spent the past 6 ½ years in Altoona. While devoting her life as a housewife, she also was an outstanding carpet weaver and spent many hours at this hobby.
Left to mourn her passing are two sisters, Mrs. Emma Leonard of Colfax and Mrs. Edna Funk of Mingo, plus a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Bumgardner Funeral Home in Colfax Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. K. E. Nesbitt, pastor of the Mingo Methodist Church, officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Howard Southern, Mrs. Lou Neal, Otho Hulse and Melvin Geisler with Mrs. Dale Harter, pianist.
Bearers were Joe Leonard, Carl Leonard, Ralph Leonard, Leo Turner, Wayne Clopper and Ivan Mullihan.
Burial was in the Ashton Chapel cemetery near Mingo, Iowa.
