Death of a Centenarian
A letter from a friend at Walnut, Iowa tells us of the death of Grandmother Jack, a good old "mother in Israel," which occurred at the home of her son, H. B. Jack, near Walnut, on the 11th inst. Mother Jack celebrated her one hundredth birthday last March. She resided in this city for a number of years, and will be well remembered especially by the older members of the M. E. Church, with whom she labored so long and zealously in the cause of the Master. She was a good old woman, and has gone to meet her reward - which will be great, as her whole life had been devoted to the upbuilding of the church, and the advancement of the cause of Christ. She remained in the fullest possession of her mental faculties until the last, and on the day of her death, when a friend whom she had not seen for years, called to see her, she quickly recognized him and called him by name.
She has three grandchildren still residing here, James and Perry Jack and Mrs. George Blair.
