Mrs. Lina Hunter Dies April 25th
Mrs. George H. (Angelina) Hunter, 89, a resident of this city for over sixty years, died Saturday evening, April 25, 1970, at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. She had been in the hospital since last Nov. 19th with complications from a diabetic condition.
Mrs. Hunter came to Colfax soon after her marriage to George H. Hunter, August 6, 1906 at Tipton, England.
The daughter of Abraham and Sarah Taylor Cope, she was born at Bradley, England, Jan. 13, 1881.
Mrs. Hunter had been a member of the Church of England. After coming to Colfax, she became a member of the United Methodist Church of this city and was a charter member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband May 13, 1940, and by a son, George Henry, in 1930.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Ruth) Loupee of Des Moines and Mrs. Elmer (Helen) Seieroe of Colfax; two sons, Abraham and Harold Hunter, both of Colfax; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, John Cope and Harry Cope; and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Fordham, all who reside in England.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28 at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church at Colfax. The Rev. Laurence Garrett, minister of the church, officiated.
Mrs. Darrold Hunter was the soloist and Miss Eleanor Howell was organist.
The bearers were: Kenneth Faidley, George Grundy, Donald Grosvenor, Jack Grosvenor, Tom Miller and Joseph Pratt.
Mrs. LaVerne Collister and Mrs. Kenneth Faidley were in charge of the flowers.
Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
